I landed at Southwest Airlines in 2004 as a Temp in the Benefits Department. At that point, I had no desire to work at an "airline", I wanted something that was going to be "more fun and creative." (I must have skipped my college marketing class on the day they talked about Southwest Airlines, right?) My first week at HDQ was Halloween; not long after that, the Employee Christmas concert took place, and I was absolutely hooked on the People, the LUV, and the Culture that the Company is built on. I finally became official in on April 18, 2005 when I was hired as an Administrative Assistant in Technology. Two years later, I found my calling--I became one of the "original" Culture Ambassadors, which led to my new position as Culture Activities Rep! If you want to know about New Orleans (my home), Louisiana State University (my alma mater-go tigers!), New York City (my home for three years), Reality TV/Pop Culture (my favorite), or Kookalaka Fettuccini Messina (my dog)--I'm your blogger!

  One More Time

It has been my plight for ten years.  I have been ridiculed and mocked and had to defend myself more times than I care to count for it.  Yes, I am a devoted Britney Spears fan.

On this day (Britney's Birthday!), as her “comeback” CD is released, I wanted to put it out there to the world--I love Britney.  I’ve felt connected to her since the beginning; a Louisiana girl

  Other Holidays Can "Stuff" It!

I've written about Nunu; some of you may know my dog's name is Kookalaka Fettucini; but my favorite silly name of all is the one that makes Thanksgiving one of my favorite days of the year: Gogi.

We've Got "Spirit", yes we do!

Three things I never wanted to see at work: Hannibal Lector reminding me of the time he had a friend for dinner…with some fava beans and a nice Chianti!; Jason from the Friday the 13th movies swinging his machete at me when I walked by; and Gary Kelly’s Executive Assistant, Gillian Kelley (no relation) wearing a full beard.

I Only Wanted My Diet Dr. Pepper

File this under "only at Southwest."

A few days ago a bunch of Employees faced that awful vending machine problem: their drinks were stuck.

  My Very Own Brave Soldier

This is beautiful, Miss Berri. It's a huge testament to the wonderful person that you are that you have stepped up to get involved in all the SWA initiatives to honor our Veterans-thanks for inspiring us all!! LUV you!

Veterans Day to me is celebrating, remembering and honoring our heroes that have ALL served in the Military. Honor ALL  Veterans of the US Armed forces, present, past and future. My very own brave solider, SGT Charles Bernard Kitowski, lost his life a year ago, August 12, 2007 while serving over in Afghanistan.
