Mother's Day Thoughts
Mother's Day Thoughts
Hello Everyone! I'm Emily Kaufman, the Travel Mom, and I've been keeping Southwest Customers updated with fun travel tips each month on southwest.com.
As The Travel Mom, I have the good fortune to marry two things that I love - Travel and Being A Mom. With Mother's Day this weekend, I have been thinking about how lucky I am to have the opportunity to celebrate the holiday. My two children are my inspiration for all that I do and I have learned so much from them.
My career has given me the amazing chance to see the world with my kids and I truly believe that sharing the experience of travel is one of the best gifts you can give to your children. We have spent time exploring beaches, theme parks, big cities, museums, aquariums and everything in between. Seeing all of it through their eyes has been an incredible gift for me and I treasure the memories that travel has created for my family. Yesterday I was in Orlando and tomorrow I will be in Phoenix appearing on television to share some ideas for families to stretch their travel dollars and create vacation memories for themselves.
I sure do love to travel, but when I wake up on Sunday morning for Mother's Day, I must admit that I will be waking in my favorite place - at home, in my bed, with my husand and two kids. Happy Mother's Day to all the other travel moms out there.

Wow. . .Mother's Day 2008 will always bring back an interesting cornucopia of memories! Southwest Airlines is part of that photo album.
My sisters and I decided to spend Mother's Day with Mom this year. We hadn't done that in years!
As I began looking into flights, I had all intentions of flying a different airline this time and leaving early morning, May 10. By the time I actually booked the flight, the price had gone up and I went back to my personal favorite, Southwest Airlines.
My flight would now not get into Tulsa until nearly dinner time. I had to settle for that schedule. My mom and two of my sisters met me and we went for dinner before continuing our trip home to our family farm in Seneca, MO.
En route, we began to hear reports of tornadoes in the area of the farm. We were in a convenience store buying soft drinks when we received the horrifying news that our family farm and the home of my brother had both been leveled in the tornado.
We thank God that all family members were away (and there are quite a few of us!). We know that HE is the one who prepared the way, but it is a blessing to look back over all the details and see that if I had made reservations on the original flight, some of us would likely not be around to tell this story. We would have probably been sitting around the kitchen table playing games (our favorite pasttime when we get together!).
Just wanted to share this family LUV story with the Southwest group!
